Agreement reached on the acquisition by RAGT of Syngenta's 2-row malting barley seed business.
This strategic addition to our existing malting barley portfolio is an important step in advancing our growth strategy, driven by the RAGT 2030 vision and the RAGT Group Management Board. This acquisition strengthens our position in key European markets and builds on the solid foundations established by Syngenta. We see clear synergies with our current portfolio and significant potential to accelerate technologies that will benefit farmers across Europe.

RAGT and Syngenta announced today that they have entered into a sale agreement for the acquisition of Syngenta’s malting barley seeds business by RAGT. The transaction is subject to customary approval requirements (including local employee consultation procedures) and expected to close by December 30, 2025. Financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.
The transaction includes the acquisition of Syngenta’s Market Stainton site, a center of excellence for malting barley breeding located in Lincolnshire, UK. As part of the agreement, around 10 Syngenta employees currently dedicated to malting barley will transfer to RAGT. The transaction also covers certain specific Syngenta IP, registrations, and other related intangible assets.
RAGT and Syngenta will work together over the next months to facilitate an orderly transition to maintain a high-quality customer service for our business partners.
