Visuel,

Decarbonisation through biomass

Since 2008, RAGT has been advancing the energy transition and supporting the decarbonisation of industries and regions through the use of biomass

Our mission within the RAGT Group

As a player committed to agricultural and environmental change, RAGT has been developing a business dedicated to decarbonisation through biomass since 2008. This business combines research, engineering and support to transform plant by-products into efficient and responsible fuels.

In line with the Group's CSR commitments, it plays an active role in decarbonisation by reconciling energy and industrial performance.

Our scope of activity

Headquartered in Albi, in France’s Occitanie region, the biomass decarbonisation business operates across the entire country. It collaborates closely with industrial, agricultural, and institutional partners, who also participate in European-scale research projects.

RAGT Energie Calys process

Decarbonising with agricultural biomass

Biomass covers all organic matter of plant or animal origin. The RAGT Group's activities focus on agricultural and industrial by-products and residues: husks, linseed shives, cereal straw, vine shoots, etc.

Making the most of this diversity of agricultural co-products requires addressing technical and supply chain challenges: multiple origins, heterogeneous physico-chemical characteristics, and the challenging combustibility of raw materials, etc.

The formulation technology patented by RAGT involves assembling biomasses and adding natural additives to balance the combustion chemistry.

In this way, it is possible to produce pellets from a variety of agricultural biomasses, with consistent, controlled combustion and operating qualities that meet market standards. These are CALYS® agropellets, intended for industry and urban heating networks. They are produced by a network of licensed producers throughout France, using their existing pelleting equipment to produce these innovative agropellets.

Through its formulation expertise and knowledge of biomass, RAGT contributes to:

  • supplying high-performance biofuels
  • reducing the industrial carbon footprint
  • boosting the circular and regional economy
